Not home, but nearby. I was going for a walk around the premises. I'm afraid I'm still trying to get my bearings in this place, to be honest.

[He'd sort of like to venture further than the ADI grounds, but he isn't sure that's the best idea yet.]

I thought that perhaps, if it would please you, we could go out for an evening in town. I could show you around to my favorite spaces, we could take dinner together, maybe even introduce you to the local cinema.

But again, only if you are up to it. I do not wish to overwhelm you more than you already must feel.

[bugbearian]

[There are pauses between his texts, but that's probably to do with being both a person who has to fix his typos, and a person with giant bugbear hands.]

It would please me greatly to spend the evening with you, but I'm uncertain if spending it in the town would be wise. I am... unused to the material plane.

[texting with claws is a particular talent to learn, but hob will probably catch on sooner or later with how often he'll be getting texts from rue]

Do you think that I can't handle you?

I didn't mean to imply that.

[A pause, between messages.]

However, I have been... thinking about these so-called Entities. Perhaps we should simply speak in person.

[WARNING BELLS ARE GOING OFF IN RUE'S HEAD. Don't you DARE run off and leave them again out of fear of the Entities!!!]

I will be home in but a few moments. Join me there when you can.

[And he has no idea just how much that worried them, though their response does make him think he said something wrong.]

[and as promised, Rue is there upon his return, perched on the sofa, though not completely relaxing. The moment that he walks through the door, they pop up, visibly relived with a certain gentle warmth entering their expression.

It will take Rue a little time to not make such a big deal over simply seeing him. But they can barely hide how happy they feel anytime he comes home to them.]

Welcome home, my love. I hope that your walk was well.

[bugbearian]

[To be fair, he's probably equally excited to see Rue, but that's more because they'd only just begun their relationship, from his perspective.

Either way, he's not quite past the stage of being flustered by their attention.]

It was... as well as can be expected, I should think. It's strange not knowing the people who know me.

[It was one thing to be known by reputation—that already made him uncomfortable enough at times without this odd sense of displaced familiarity.]

I can not imagine, darling, but in time, they shall all be good friends to you. I promise, everyone adores you here.

[They reach out to take his paw in theirs, tugging him towards the couch.]

Here, let us sit. I am ready to hear whatever it is you needed to tell me.

[That's... exceptionally hard to believe, for a whole number of reasons, but he decides not to argue the point.]

I suppose you know them better than I.

[A pause, as he sits before going on.]

It is simply... while I do not wish to feed the deities of this realm, you know as well as I what goblins are. Current or former court status notwithstanding.

[And what goblins are is quite literally fear. It's not all they are, or all he is, but it's also true on an extremely fundamental level. It's what they're for.]

[It is not what they were expecting, but it makes sense, doesn't it? Rue had spent so many of their first months in this realm terrified of how to avoid the Entities.

Their paw curls over his, their free hand curling around his cheek.]

I understand your fear. Do you think you would feel more eased if we tried to limit your exposure to humans unless I am there at your side?
